WEEK 7 | Asking Question

(Image from https://techcrunch.com/2016/06/07/questions-you-need-to-ask-your-vc/)

In this week contact, we went through different approaches on evaluating and asking the right question for our testing. In the previous testing, I found some of the feedback I gained is not really helpful and people gave very generally comments. These are the questions I asked:
  1. In scale 1 to 5 (5 yes, 1 no), do you understand the concept?
  2. Do you identify the problem?
  3. What do you think about the prototype?
  4. In scale 1 to 5 (5 good, 1 bad), is the video clear? (include the explanation, quality)
  5. Any thing should be improved?
In order to improve the testing results, I tried to ask less "yes/no" and scaling questions, because they do not provide insight and restrict users to express their thoughts. Thus, I decided to create a Google form for the second testing and design more open-ended questions:
  1. What's one thing you like about the prototype?
  2. What do think about the interface control?
  3. What do think about the functionality?
  4. Do you think the prototype presents the concept?
  5. What's one thing it could be improved?
The above questions focused on asking the users to give feedback on the interface and functionality. Instead of just asking what they think about the prototype, I reinforced them to think about the function and control of the prototype. Along with the Google forms, users can take their time to fill in the form and answer the questions, as some of them don't feel comfortable to verbally respond.

The results went better than testing one. Some of the participants were open to talk more about their other thoughts on the prototype and exchange ideas. For the future testing questions, I will continue to be specific and focus on the aspects that I intended to test. Google form will be continued to adopted.
