WEEK 8 | Alternative Interaction
The interaction of Tetris involves gamers' concentration to move the block left or right, and rotate into different direction to fill up the line. Once the line completed, the blocks will disappear and gamer score points. To control the movement of the blocks, gamers have to click arrow keys to control left/right and drop the block. Gamers also need to click space bar to rotate the block. The only thing gamer interact with is the keyboard, and perhaps the monitor. The keyboard can be replaced by alternative interaction method, such as implement a touch screen or game controller.
1) Use foot to control the direction. Put the arrow keys and other control keys on a mat and users need to step on it to control the blocks.
2) Move the tablet left/right to control the blocks.
3) Play the game with Lego blocks that connect with the digital game
Communication Platform - Snapchat
The main interaction of Snapchat is taking picture and send to someone else. Snapchat have lots of feature to increase its interactivity, such as, inserting text, stickers, drawing...It then developed different filters (geo-filter, time filter, face filter), video effects and story feed. Users can upload a photo or video to story feed for 24 hours, which disappear after 24 hours. Thus, users can check their friends' stories to check their lives and connect with each other. All the control and interaction happen on the phone and inside the app, like when users touch the shutter to take a picture or swipe right/left to add filters. I think the app is necessary, hence the only part that afford an alternative interaction method is the phone. Instead of using the app on smart phone, we can use it on interactive billboards or normal camera.
1) Snap by squeezing a ball
2) Select filter by moving the ball left and right
3) Send the snap by throwing the ball
Common Software - Google Chrome
Google Chrome is a really useful internet browser. The major interaction, obviously, surfing the web. The main interface to interact is the tab, the window that display all the websites. It helps users to do anything online, check emails, go on Facebook, watch videos...Users could control via mouse and keyboard, to click and type. Both mouse and keyboard can change to other method to interact with Chrome, like Makey Makey.
1) Connect Makey Makey as the keyboard to type an email
2) Send the email by throwing a paper airplane
3) Delete the email by scrunching the paper
