The week after the break, we came back and talked about the idea of the blocks that had given to us fews weeks ago. I came out with an idea that the blocks could attach to any item, especially important essentials, like wallet, car keys or phone. When one block attach to the item, the other one will can detect and sense the other's location. It blinks when they get closer and notify the users. Thus, users could able to find the items if they lose it somewhere in the office, at home, messy room...The second idea is sending colour messages and greeting. Users could carry it around or attach it on their phones. The block would glow with colours with LED light. Each colour represent different emotions and feelings. For example, blue means "missing you"; red means "love you"; purple means "take care" etc. So users can tell their family, partner or friends their mood and messages anytime, anywhere. They can feel connected even they are separated.
During that weekend, I went to Miss Jones, a cafe in New Farm. It is a really cute, stylish cafe that serve brunch, burger and coffee. Really basic Aussie cafe with cute interior design. Customer order from the counter and food will deliver to your table by the waitress. One thing I realise the staff is, they are all girls! All young Aussie girls. There're not many tables and not a lot of customer on that day. Me and my friend sat on a big table, shared with some other people. I can see what they ordered and how much they finished their food. I think one of the external factor that affect customer is the interior design of the cafe. How the table set up, the size of the table, the seats...if the cafe has nice design, customers may go around to take photos. For internal, their mood, appetite, expectation on the food, who they go with may affect the experience.
After observing the cafe, I think the dinning experience can be improve by self-ordering in each table. Some Japanese restaurant has implement self-ordering, where they have a tablet in each table that show the menu and allow customers to order food direct from it. They can also check the cooking process and how long does the food take to be made. So the order will be sure correct and save a lot of man power. Waiters can focus on other stuff and work more efficient. The customers will also have less complain on the order and the time, as they can check by themselves.
